This case is about slaves or slavery.

Year: 1854
Citation: 7 Md. 26
Jurisdiction: Maryland
People:
Short Summary: Father executing a bond to his daughter for lands whereafter the daughter died and her husband (her heir at law) maintained possession of this land. After the daughter's death the father's wife died and he re-married leaving the previously conveyed lands to his surviving wife. In order to prove the execution of the original conveyance, the husband brought into evidence the receipt of delivery of the slaves (now in his possession of the husband) which was objected to but overruled. The court decided not to determine the admissibility of this evidence as they found that even if the lower court was wrong in admiting, the party was not harmed by its admissibility.
